Your resume should be clear, concise and tailored to the job for which you are applying.within the first four days of a job being posted. You’ll get the best results if you send your resume between 6 a.m. Employers look at resumes for an average of only six or seven seconds.sorry! Bottom line, you'll save yourself time, money, and a ton of frustration by skipping ResumeMaker 20 and just use a resume template already setup for use with MS Word. This software was released around 2017, but it has the look, feel, and reliability of 1997 vintage bargain bin software from the Dollar Store. When it was all done, I wasted most of my time manually formatting the resume in Word to fix the format issues generated by ResumeMaker's document (which is in a non-standard file format not directly readable by Word, unless exported which doesn't usually work unless you export text and recreate the doc in Word. The software update function is supposed to exist, but seems to be missing when clicking on the "update" button within "help". The help function is out-of-date and doesn't seem to correspond with the software menus which are very sparse. The formatting tools are very limited and those available don't work half the time Of the 60 or so resume templates, half don't work or badly jumble the document if converted. Resumes that do export to Word have jumbled formatting and overlapping text boxes all over the place - useless! 90% of the time, it won't export back to Word without reporting a server error (no local support for many functions, they off-load to a server som ewhere that apparently is not online much). it won't import a standard Word doc as advertised, only plain text. What it does OK: has sample resumes to reference as examples I then tried it on my older laptop running Win 7 32-bit, and it seemed to like that OS better. Unfortunately, it has the look, feel, and usefulness of software written for use back when Windows 98 was new.įirstly, it installs but it won't run under Windows 7 64-bit, giving several warnings about a problem with display settings when first started, then it quits. I had used an earlier version of this ResumeMaker software many years ago, so I thought I'd give Version 20 a try. Outdated, buggy software not up to the task
